Seshy Beast, 3.3%
Our iconic Exmoor Beast is a dark, strong porter which comes in at a robust 6.6% ABV. We’ve decided to pay tribute to its legendary status, reimagining it for February’s Pathfinder release.
The original 6.6% version, has developed cult status over the years, having won many awards, and gained a following as strong as it’s taste. So, for this limited release we have brewed it to the same recipe, except we have made some changes to reduce the strength by half, to suit people who may prefer to have a more sessionable dark ale at this time of year.
So, sit back, and grab a pint of this one, and remember as it’s half as strong you can have twice as much!
Beer type
Session Dark Porter
Tasting notes
Pouring a deep, dark ruby colour, with a large dense off-white head. The aroma presents with a faint but noticeable amount of coffee, roasted malts, and a touch of earthy hops. On the palate it starts out with a mild sweetness with malty flavours of coffee and chocolate. This is followed by a dryish roasted malt character, which comes in along with a touch of smoke in the background. The hops presence is very mild but complementary and brings a decent balance. This is all followed up with a slightly sweet after-taste.
The mouthfeel is little crisper than the original with a medium body, light carbonation, and the finish is quite dry.
The hops we have used are the same as the original Beast, which lend an additional herbal, earthy dimension to the mix.
